Bowel & Colon Problems
The Large Intestine

Support Your Colon Health

A quick look at ways to support your colon health are the 5 F's:
  1. Fluids- Get plenty of pure water daily, start off with a big 12-16 ounce glass of water first thing in the morning, ideally with lemon ( lemon is not mandatory)
  2. Fitness-A little at least every day move your body move your bowel.
  3. Fiber-vegetables, Fruits, added fiber helps to move this through. Works like a whisk broom.
  4. Fats- Good Fats not greasy fried food. Coconut oil, Flax, Udos blend, Olive oil Cold pressed organic is best. 2-3 T daily
  5. Flora- Friendly Bactria, promoted by fermented veggies, kombucha, yogurt, and supplements. Intestinal flora balance is so important.

Peristalsis

Peristalsis refers to the natural, rhythmic muscle contractions that move food and waste through the colon. When the colon is burdened by impaction, gas, excessive mucus, parasite activity, putrefaction, or plaque buildup, these muscles may be forced to work harder than intended. Structural challenges—such as loops, curves, twists, or a prolapsed colon—can further inhibit normal peristalsis. When this process is disrupted, it may result in abdominal discomfort, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, and low energy levels.
The most effective way to support healthy bowel function is to avoid foods and habits that contribute to digestive imbalance.
Supporting Healthy Digestion
  • Hydration: Drink a minimum of half your body weight in ounces of water daily.
  • Fiber Intake: Eat a high-fiber diet, which also supports healthy cholesterol levels.
  • Daily Greens: Incorporate Greens 1st into your routine. One tablespoon provides the nutritional equivalent of 15 servings of fruits and vegetables, helping meet daily greens requirements.
  • Avoid Rancid Oils: Eliminate foods containing hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils, as these are damaged, inflammatory fats.
  • Digestive Rest: One day each week, give your digestive system a break by consuming raw vegetables only and plenty of water. Raw vegetables contain natural enzymes that assist digestion.
Many individuals experience a sluggish digestive system with a slow transit time, which can lead to fermentation and gas buildup.
Fermentation and Gas Are More Likely When You:
  • Drink liquids with meals
  • Consume excess carbohydrates and sugars
  • Eat dessert — skip it whenever possible
Supporting proper digestion helps restore natural peristalsis, improves comfort, and enhances overall vitality
